Brief
Ungender, one of India’s few advisory firms dedicated to fostering gender-inclusive workplaces, began with an in-house visual identity that served them well during their initial phase. However, as they established themselves as a prominent service provider and expanded their operations, they realized the need for a professional re-design. This new identity would better capture their brand’s values, vision, and growing impact.
Insights
As we explored their work, it became clear that a key focus was educating individuals on sensitive issues, promoting correct practices, and discouraging inappropriate behavior. This insight inspired us to design a visual system that could spark conversations and effectively communicate their brand. To ensure inclusivity and avoid biases, we deliberately avoided gender-related symbols in the visual system, considering the nuanced context of gender identity.
Solution
To convey the message of creating workplaces where gender doesn’t dictate treatment, we designed a logotype with a strike-through on the word "gender." This element serves as both a visual pun and a reinforcement of the brand’s core message. To maintain consistency, we developed an identity system featuring a red strike-through and green underline, which the team can easily use. This visual language extends to branded merchandise, sparking conversations and promoting a culture of inclusivity and equality.
