Identity Design for a Consultancy firm committed to undoing the gender divide at workplaces. Ungender helps companies with PoSH Compliance, DEI Advisory, and other related services.
BEFORE
AFTER
BRIEF
Ungender began as an advisory firm with the mission to empower leaders in creating inclusive and equitable workplaces for individuals of all genders. Being one of the few firms in India providing such services, they have established themselves as a prominent service provider in this space.
Though their in-house visual identity served them well during the initial phase of testing and operations, it lacked the essential appeal. As their operations expanded, Ungender recognised the need for a professional visual identity re-design that could embody their brand values and vision with greater clarity and impact.
INSIGHTS
As we delved deeper into their work, it became evident that a significant aspect of their efforts revolved around educating individuals on sensitive issues, and reinforcing correct practices while discouraging inappropriate behaviour. This realisation led us to conceptualise a visual system that would serve as a conversation starter and facilitate effective communication of their brand.
Considering the contextual nuances of gender identity, we decided to steer clear of gender-related symbols in the visual system to ensure inclusivity and avoid any potential biases.
SOLUTION
To communicate the message of creating workspaces where gender is not a factor in how people are treated, we designed a logotype with a strike-through on the word 'gender'. The strike-through not only serves as a visual pun, but also reinforces the brand's core message.
To ensure consistency in their brand communication, we created an identity system consisting of a red strike-through and green underline, which can be easily used by the team. This visual language also extends to an array of brand merchandise that sparks conversations around the brand's message and fosters a culture of inclusivity and equality.
